Greenfinch (Carduelis chloris)

A familiar but no less attractive bird, its plumage seems to me like a patchwork quilt in perfectly themed colours. This shot, like the one before, is made I think by the clarity of composition and the sympathetic shades of the background.

  1. This is a great shot Tim as in particular you have captured all of its colours, which is difficult with a Greenfinch.

  2. Nice Greenie shot Tim, I always find them a bit difficult to photograph, they have that ''mean'' look about them with eye markings :-)

  3. Thanks TexWisGirl. Thanks Roy – the subtleties of the colours do work, don't they? Thanks Warren – and yes those eyes do seem to be judging somewhat. – Tim

  4. I don't think I have ever seen such a clear shot of the colouring, it's marvellous.
