Blackbird

The framing worked well for this capture, as well as the texture in the fencing and the bird's plumage contrasting with the simple backdrop.

  1. That's a super shot, everything has such good texture to it.

I was watching some Crows a short while ago, I got quite close in my little car and they were quite unconcerned. I find them endlessly fascinating to watch.

  2. I'm also very fond of crows, indeed all of the 'black stuff'. They seem to have an air of confidence that comes from spending much of their time in large groups. They're also – despite their apparently dowdy appearance – wonderfully photogenic, with colours ranging from inky blacks to stunning deep blues and subtle blue-greys. Most of all, however, I like that cockiness that means, as you say, that they're great fun to observe.

  3. I agree with you about the colours of plumage, I recently observed some Jackdaws and was amazed to see that their backs glistened almost violet, utterly beautiful.
