Feeding time for juvenile Blue Tits

In a previous post I uploaded images of a juvenile blue tit being fed by one of its parents. Today – on almost the same branch in my garden – I was lucky enough to witness the same event, this time with a pair of young tits demanding attention. The action went like this… One of the young birds was first on the branch, noisily demanding to be fed. It's difficult to ignore the demands of an infant and, sure enough, the parent responded by joining its offspring on the branch. It looked like it was about to hand over the scraps of fat and seed when, suddenly, a second juvenile tit appeared on the branch and, for some reason, the parent decided to feed this bird instead. As you can imagine, this did not go down well and – before all three birds flew off – the young tit not given something by its parent gave the adult bird what I can only describe as a quizzical look…

  2. Just wondering, did you remove the post about the Blue Tit with lesions? I can see part of some of the replies in the sidebar but not the original post.

  3. Hi Toffeeapple. I did remove the post – probably not cricket, I'm sure, but I just couldn't stand seeing the poor chap each time I logged on.

  4. Lovely sequence of photos, they have been busy in my garden too.

Lovely photos of the bees on the previous post also.

I left a comment on a Blue Tit post earlier today (not the one with problems) but it has gone... along with the photo!

  6. Hi ShySongbird. Thanks for commenting on the ailing blue tit post. Your comments are always much appreciated. I took down the image because it was, well, just a little too distressing. The suspicion was that the bird was suffering from avian pox.

  7. Hi ShySongbird. I've just realised you were referring to the black and white image. That one, I'm afraid, was deleted in error.
